Virgin Peach Pina Colada

The name sounds quite exotic doesn’t it? Now let us see what this Peach Pina Colada is all about?
In hot weather, the young and the old seek something cold and refreshing to quench their parched throats and energise their jaded spirits. Many a times we tend to veer towards aerated drinks detrimental to our health as they are steeped high in sugar, caffeine and calories. Fresh fruit juices can be substituted as they are healthy, pleasing to the taste buds and lip smacking too. One such drink is the Peach Pina Colada; it’s not just a plain drink, but a Wonder drink, liked by one and all. It proves to be suitable for any occasion and is highly nutritious with various ingredients found in it.
Shall we now have a look at the components of this drink?
One finds blended chunks of pineapple and peaches, coconut milk, juice of pineapple and an addition of natural sweetener honey to enhance the taste of the drink.
Peach Pina Colada
Time: 5-10 minutes
1 cup Peaches (frozen/fresh)
1 cup Pineapple (fresh/frozen)
1 cup Pineapple juice
1 cup Coconut milk
Honey as per taste.
Each component has its own merits:
The Pineapple is high in Vitamin-C, Manganese and is extremely fibrous. Additionally Bromelain, an enzyme helps in digestion by breaking down proteins. It also assists in reducing the mucus in the throat and in helps in reducing the inflammation of sinus mucus in the long term.
Peaches: The healthy function of the body depends on peaches which is rich in Vitamin A, Beta-Carotene and Vitamin C or ascorbic acid. Moreover Vitamin E, K, Vitamin B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), Vitamin B3 (niacin) and Vitamin B6. Being low in calories with no saturated fat and cholesterol and with its abundance of dietary fibre peach is an invaluable fruit.
Coconut Milk: It is a white liquid extracted from freshly grated coconut (Canned coconut milk is a handy substitute). Abundance of fibre, Vitamins C, E, B1, B3, B5, B6 and minerals like Iron, Selenium, Sodium, Magnesium and Phosphorous are found in it.
Pineapple Juice: It has a strong sweet flavour and is a treasure house of Vitamin C.
Honey: Honey has been used as a sweetener from ancient times all over the World and is still in great demand as a substitute for sugar. It is very beneficial as it has medicinal qualities which are believed to be a cure for cancer and diseases of the heart.
Blend together peach and pineapple chunks for 30 seconds.
Add pineapple juice, coconut milk and honey (as desired), blend it for another 30 seconds
Place ice cubes or crushed ice in a serving glass.
Pour the prepared Pina Colada on top of the ice cubes and serve.
Pina colada is nothing short of a panacea for all. For an empty stomach this drink will be a wonderful pacifier. A fasting person can depend on this drink entirely as it will make one sustain his/her hunger.
During the period of Ramadan, this drink is a good and adequate supplement for the meal as Peach Pina Colada is more than a drink as it is very nutritious and filling because of it fibrous content in both the fruits.
